Installations

I construct lyrical, abstract installations with fabric, lath, and thread that invoke an itinerant sensibility. I consider myself on a journey with a suitcase containing necessities from home and collected materials that articulate my experiences.  Like a backpacker who makes camp in the evening and breaks camp in the morning, I set up installations that contain familiar elements but necessarily respond to the surroundings.

The act of situating ourselves in space, whether with pictures, furniture, people, etc., is how I understand the ways in which we make ourselves at home. Through the alteration of actual and visual spaces and with materials found in, or used for, the purposes of Home, my work explores the actively constructed environments in which we immerse ourselves.

My recent works are temporary installations based on varying levels of familiarity, comfort, improvisation, and preparation as they reference memories and emotions.  These constructions begin to resemble the way a spider takes up residency in the corner of a room.
